Job Overview

The Purchasing & Material Planning Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end materials management process, including planning, delivery, inventory, supplier performance, and order strategy. This role ensures material availability to support global and local business operations while optimizing cost, lead time, and supplier performance. The incumbent will lead a team of 6 (planners and buyers) and serve as a key link between suppliers, internal functions, and global procurement teams.


Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global and local material planning strategies to support production and business growth.
  • Manage global and local material delivery, ensuring on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance.
  • Oversee inventory management across sites, reducing excess and minimizing shortages.
  • Lead strategic order planning to align with both global and local requirements.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs (OTIF, NCMR) worldwide and drive corrective actions.
  • Build and strengthen supplier relationships across global and regional levels.
  • Lead and develop a team of 6 planners and buyers to support both global and local operations.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in material planning and procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role, managing planners and/or buyers.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain, MRP/ERP systems, and inventory control principles.
  • Proven ability in supplier management and KPI monitoring (OTIF, NCMR, quality metrics).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in both global and local supply chain environments is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin; TOEIC 800+ is a plus.
