Pushing medical boundaries since 1989
In 1989, Swedish entrepreneur Roger Samuelsson founded SHL Group, now SHL Medical, with a vision to elevate medical equipment production. By combining Taiwan's manufacturing expertise with Western management practices, we set the stage for becoming a leading force in the drug delivery market. The launch of our first pen injector in 1996 marked the beginning of a lasting legacy of innovation.
Today, with over 60 combination products launched across more than 75 global markets, we continue to lead the way in drug delivery innovation.
1996
First device launched
Success of PenInject 2.25 sets SHL Medical on the path to global leadership.
2000
In-house automation and assembly capabilities
Established in Taiwan – now include modular, fully automatic assembly line.
2002
Design centers
Founded in US and Sweden.
2006
First commercial launch of DAI project
DAI lays the foundation for our success.

On-site tooling capabilities

DAI - the gold standard platform that started it all
In 2006, SHL Medical launched one of the world's first modern autoinjectors: the Disposable Autoinjector (DAI). Developed with a multinational biopharmaceutical company, the three-step, button-activated device simplified self-injection through intuitive design, audible feedback, and automatic needle handling.
DAI became SHL Medical's first widely commercialized autoinjector platform, helping establish the company as a trusted partner to global pharma and biotech companies while laying the foundation for a growing portfolio of self-injection solutions
