SHL Medical nurtures future talents through global initiatives
August 15 2025
As a pioneer in self-injection solutions, SHL Medical is committed to advancing knowledge and innovation in the field while investing in our people and cultivating the next generation of engineering talent. Through global and local initiatives, we encourage children and young adults to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), inspiring them to envision how they can contribute to the future of healthcare.
One of the latest initiatives is the “Take Your Child to Work Day”, held at SHL Medical Taiwan on August 8. The event welcomed children aged 10–13, offering a hands-on introduction to medical device innovation. Through educational games, experiments, friendly competitions, and interactive discussions, participants explored our facilities and learned about the science behind autoinjectors.
Sebastian Feng, General Manager of SHL Medical Taiwan, highlighted the importance of early STEM engagement: “Nurturing interests in STEM from an early age lays the foundation for future innovation. We hope that experiences like Take Your Child to Work Day will leave a lasting impression and inspire participants to carry forward SHL Medical’s legacy.”
This program builds on SHL Medical’s longstanding commitment to youth engagement, as demonstrated by our annual participation in Swiss National Future Day at our headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. Since its launch in 2021, this tradition has inspired similar initiatives across our global sites.
In the United States, our North Charleston site joined the Tri-County STEMersion program, aimed at bridging the gap between education and workforce needs in South Carolina. The site also partnered with Skillionaire Games to transform medical device quality control into an engaging, interactive experience.
In Taiwan, SHL Medical continues our strong support for science education through the NSTC Science Train Program, a national initiative promoting STEM learning. We have participated in this program for three consecutive years since 2022, further reinforcing our dedication to advancing science education and inspiring young minds.
Beyond the Science Train, SHL Medical has collaborated with schools and institutions to educate and cultivate future talents. One such collaboration resulted in the introduction of SHL Medical Apprenticeship Program, which provides local students with hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, from tooling to molding, under the guidance of our in-house experts.
In Sweden, our team is preparing to host its first Family Day and Future Day, further expanding our global footprint in talent development.
From Switzerland to Taiwan, the US, and Sweden, SHL Medical is proud to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and engineering excellence in young minds, upholding our commitment as a global leader in STEM education within the medical device industry.
