Job Overview

The Senior AI Engineer designs, builds, and operationalizes AI systems that enhance business processes, products, and decision-making. This role bridges data science, software engineering, and MLOps, ensuring that AI models and LLM-based solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, and compliant. The AI Engineer works closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, MLOps Engineers, Product Owners, and domain teams to translate business needs into robust AI capabilities.

Main Responsibilities 

• Design, implement, and optimize AI solutions with ML and GenAI models (including LLM-based solutions, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent systems), covering backend and frontend.
• Build inference services, model endpoints, and scalable APIs (e.g., using FastAPI, Azure ML, Databricks, or similar platforms).
• Integrate AI components into enterprise applications, workflows, and business processes.
• Lead and contribute to AI solution architecture, selecting appropriate cloud, model, and data platform components.
• Instrument robust online/offline evaluation metrics and dashboards to monitor quality in production
• Document architectures, models, prompts, and operational procedures.
• Coach and mentor junior and mid-level AI engineers.
• Lead workshops, initiatives, and contribute to shaping team culture and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics or related fields. 
• 8+ years of experience in AI engineering, software engineering, data science or related fields.
• Deep expertise in software engineering practices (e.g. clean code, architecture, version control, testing), including shipping and operating cloud services in production.
• Strong expertise with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, SQL, and ML/AI libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, etc.)
• Demonstrated success delivering AI-powered features that serve real users at scale (e.g., retrieval-augmented search, Generative AI assistants, predictive analytics)
• Experience with AI models, integrating LLMs (e.g. Prompting, Evaluation, Observability), MLOps, model deployment, cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS) and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and non-relational databases and vector DBs.
• Proven ability to work independently and guide others.
• Strong business acumen and experience in cross-functional collaboration.
• Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, coaching, and influencing team culture.
• ​​University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics or related fields. 
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure, Databricks, AWS, Google) are a plus.

Language Skills

• Must have: fluent in English
• Nice to have: Mandarin, German or another language is a plus.
