Job Description

 

The Sustainability (Associate) Project Manager – Factory Operations is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing sustainability initiatives across factory operations to meet corporate environmental targets, improve energy/resource efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role serves as a critical bridge between operations, engineering, ESG, and supply chain teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead cross-functional sustainability projects across multiple factory sites (e.g., energy reduction, waste management, water conservation, carbon neutrality).
  • Define and track sustainability KPIs (e.g., carbon emissions per unit produced, energy intensity, waste-to-landfill rate).
  • Conduct energy and resource audits; identify operational inefficiencies and recommend sustainable alternatives.
  • Develop and implement factory-level decarbonization strategies aligned with corporate ESG goals (e.g., Scope 1 & 2 emissions).
  • Collaborate with procurement to improve sustainable sourcing and evaluate supplier environmental impact.
  • Monitor local and global environmental regulations and ensure factory compliance.
  • Develop ROI and payback analyses for sustainability CAPEX proposals; present findings to senior management.
  • Support reporting for sustainability disclosures (e.g., CDP, GRI, TCFD, internal ESG dashboards).
  • Train and engage factory employees on sustainability best practices and behavior change programs.
  • Fluent in English; local language proficiency is a plus for multi-site roles
 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in sustainability or environmental roles or in a manufacturing/factory setting.
  • Proven track record of managing sustainability programs or energy/resource optimization projects with quantifiable results.
  • Fluent in English; local language proficiency is a plus for multi-site roles.
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or other analytical tools.
  • Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
