[ PD ] - Senior Robotics & Vision Engineer

SHL seeks an experienced Robotics and Vision System Engineer to join our Taiwan team. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in Machine Vision Inspection Systems to improve our advanced manufacturing equipment and processes. This role offers an exciting chance to implement innovative automation solutions for auto injectors and drug delivery systems. Responsibilities include programming, testing, integrating, and optimizing machine vision inspection systems. The Engineer will introduce products on pilot and lab lines, focusing on programming/tuning control systems (e.g., PLC), robots (e.g., 6-axis), and inspections (e.g., cameras). They will collaborate within a group responsible for optimizing assembly designs, developing process parameters, overseeing pilot production, and managing equipment handover to operations
Robotics and Vision Engineer will introduce products on pilot lines and on lab lines. A typical product consists of ~10 components that are pressed together (see YouTube video beneath).

Your responsibilities

  • Program vision tasks including quality inspection and feeding.
  • Program robots, both 6-axis (E.g. Fanuc) and single axis.
  • Program control systems such as PLC/PC.
  • Program transportation systems.
  • Program/configure force/torque sensors.
  • Install and adjust fixtures and sensors.
  • Collaborate with mechanical/process engineers to introduce products.
  • Participate in Validation and Verification activities.
  • Document work and adhere to quality procedures within SHL.
  • Introduce new technologies and solutions.

Skills & Qualifications

Programming:

  • Proficiency in Structured Text using Codesys or TwinCAT (Beckhoff).
  • Experience with vision algorithms, using common platforms such as TwinCAT Vision, Cognex VPro, Keyence, SICK, and OpenCV.
  • Understanding programming languages such as C++, C#, Python and JavaScript (Node.js and VUE.js).
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networking strategies, such as: Profinet, EthernetIP, and EtherCAT.

Vision System Expertise:

  • Selection and configuration of cameras, lenses, optics, and lighting.
  • Experience specifying vision system hardware components, including technical documentation such as SDS/HDS/FDS.
  • Commissioning and calibration of vision systems (e.g. MSA) for quality inspection, robot guidance, and process control.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical background.

Other Skills:

  • Experience with software validation and verification processes.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing is highly desired.
  • Ability to write user requirements for vision system and communicate with vendors.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design such as DOE
  • Familiarity with AMR/AGV

Experience:

At least 5+ years of relevant professional experience in vision systems and automation.
