SHL Medical is seeking an experienced data scientist to join their Data Science department. SHL Medical is a leading medical device manufacturer actively engaged in utilizing advanced design and manufacturing techniques to produce high quality products in the exciting field of medical devices. For 30 years, SHL Medical has been a global leader in the production of autoinjectors supporting many large pharmaceutical companies worldwide. SHL Medical has created their Data Science team with the goal of providing global support in data science, analytics and big data across the whole organization. The team is a key driver for the transition to a data- and science-driven company.

This position, the data scientist can expect to work closely with experts from various domains to solve critical business and engineering problems in high impact projects that effect the entire organization. The candidate should be comfortable leading teams and working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive the digital transformation and develop new digital services and products. The right candidate will have a passion for analyzing data in large data bases or obtained by experiments by applying the scientific method to gain new insights or discover hidden solutions.

【Main Responsibilities】

• Lead, coach, and mentor other data scientists.
• Drive data science projects and initiatives.
• Guide (internal/external) customers through the project intake process, identify their business needs, and select the appropriate data science solution/technology.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive improvement and innovation.
• Cooperate with our Data Architect, Data Engineers, and IT to provide the required data for the scientists.
• Coordinate with different functional teams to implement solutions and monitor outcomes.
• Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of data and models.
• Continuously improve the data science infrastructure, processes, and tools.

【Required Skills & Qualifications】

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM field and 5+ years of experience as data scientist.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good project management and leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor and coach other data scientists.
• A drive for continues improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for coordinating and reporting across teams.
• Ability to explain data science processes, methods, and tools to people from other domains.
• A broad Knowledge of available technologies, solutions, their applications, and limitations.
• Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
• Experience with the following packages/frameworks: Sci-Kit, Numpy, Pandas, TensorFlow or Pytorch.
• Experience with MS Azure, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Datasphere is a plus.
• Understanding of product development, production or quality control processes is a plus.
